My must-haves for glowing winter skin

Winter has well and truly arrived - and this always plays havoc with my skin.  The combination of cold temperatures, chilly wind and indoor heating leaves my skin feeling dry and dull - and looking tired. Living in Scotland, I have become accustomed to the ever changing weather!  Luckily, over the past few years, I have become aware of how my skin changes throughout the seasons, as well as what it needs to remain in top condition.  So, as the barometre drops, I have rounded-up my top five products (suitable for both men and women) that can be relied on to combat those winter skincare issues.

House of Life London Face Repair Cream

House of Life Repair Cream
Created by Debbrah Craven, these organic skincare products have become a firm favourite of mine. One that really stands out is the No. 30 Face Repair Cream, £85. Not only does it contain 30 clinically proven natural and organic actives, it also provides the skin with over 190 types of nutrients, perfect for replenishing the skin in the winter months. I find the texture of this cream and serum blend luxuriously silky as it sinks immediately into the skin.  What I admire about this product is that it provides the skin with a protective layer which not only shields the skin from harmful UV rays (which are still around even in the winter) but also leaves it continuously replenished and moisturised throughout the day. I especially love their essential oil blend of geranium rose and cedarwood, which gives it a relaxing aroma.

Crème Du Loch Age-Defying Daily Moisturiser

I recently discovered this product, and have fallen in love with it. Crème Du Loch Age-Defying Daily Moisturiser, £49, is not only filled with a unique blend of minerals, anti-oxidants and vitamins, it is most importantly cruelty free and vegan friendly.  The star ingredient is Scottish Kelp which is a natural superfood for the skin, tackling any dryness, breakouts, fine lines and wrinkles. The texture appears light and airy, but on application the skin feels extremely hydrated and healthy. I recently took it on a trip to the Scottish highlands and it kept my skin supple and moisturised in the cold harsh weather.

Formulae Prescott Tri Balm

Tri-Balm, £46,captured me with its minimalist packaging, natural multitasking ingredients, and cruelty-free approach. Created by renowned facialist and make-up artist Formulae Prescott, Tri-Balm delivers three skincare solutions in one; cleanse, exfoliate and moisturise.  As I apply this product to my skin, I feel a sense of calm due to the stunning fragrance of the Mandarin and Geranium essential oils. On application, this solid oil melts beautifully into the skin and the concoction of rich and nourishing ingredients including Hyaluronic Acid, Sweet Almond and  Wheatgerm Oils get to work.  When my skin feels particularly dry in the winter, I apply this all over my face, and leave it on as a mask – my skin feels supple, glowing and moisturised.  The small container is so convenient to throw in your toiletry bag, and knowing you have three products in one not only saves space, but also money!

Polaar Polar Night

Polaar Polar Night CreamPolar Night by Polaar, £38.30, is a night cream containing rare Boreal Algae from the polar oceans.  This is said to eliminate toxins and boost the skin's oxygen levels.  What I particularly enjoy about this product is that although its texture is rich and creamy, on application it leaves a matte finish which effectively quenches dehydrated skin.  Whenever my skin feels lack lustre, tired or dry, I apply this fantastic cream, and by morning, my skin looks beautifully refreshed and rejuvenated. This deeply revitalising night cream remains a staple in my skincare routine.

The Wild Together No 5 The Serum

The Wild Together No 5 Serum
The Wild Together products are described as 'a range of all natural, mixable and highly multifunctional skincare solutions designed to reduce the effects of modern living by accessing the restorative powers of ingredients found in the wild.' After trying a few of the products from their Discovery Collection, No 05 The Serum, £49, really surprised me. The serum is full of nutrient-dense, natural and organic ingredients, all combined for optimum skin regeneration. I use the serum when I feel I need extra hydration under my moisturiser and although it has an oily consistency it quickly absorbs leaving no shiny residue. It leaves my skin plumped up and supple looking and I have had numerous compliments on my glowing skin when using this product.
